-On Information Integrity

The Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL) is currently participating in the Conference on Information Integrity in West Africa and the Sahel, a three-day regional gathering of stakeholders working to promote truth, transparency, and responsible public information management.

Represented by Executive Director Madam Esther S. D. Yango, WONGOSOL shared insights from its Women and Access to Information project during a breakout session on “Proactive Data Disclosure and Internal Management of Public Information.” The initiative, supported by the Embassy of Ireland in Monrovia through The Carter Center Liberia, addresses barriers that prevent women from accessing public information and promotes gender-responsive transparency mechanisms at both national and local levels.

WONGOSOL expressed gratitude to the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for facilitating its participation in this regional dialogue.

“Access to accurate and timely information is not just a right, it is a tool for empowerment,” said Madam Yango. “Our work ensures that women and marginalized groups are included in conversations on transparency and accountability.”

The conference continues with expert panels, civil society exchanges, and strategic sessions aimed at strengthening regional capacity to promote information integrity, counter disinformation, and advance inclusive access to public data.
