Congo Town, Liberia – In an effort to advance gender-responsive policymaking, the Women NGO Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL), in collaboration with Medica Liberia, Radical Young Women, Sisters for Sisters, and the Liberian Feminist Forum, has launched a three-day capacity-building workshop for government officials.

The training, held in Congo Town, began on May 28, 2025. It aims to equip over 20 policymakers, including legislators and ministry representatives, with feminist and gender-sensitive analytical tools to shape inclusive laws and governance.

The initiative, implemented under the “Stronger Together Project”, unites five women-led organizations to bolster Liberia’s feminist movement and drive systemic change. Participants include representatives from key institutions such as the Ministry of Gender, Justice, Health, Defense, and Information, alongside members of the Women’s Legislative Caucus of Liberia.

Madam Munah Kieh Kelly, WONGOSOL’s Membership Coordinator, outlined the workshop’s objectives:

“These sessions will deepen understanding of feminist and gender analysis frameworks, providing practical tools for gender-responsive policymaking. Our goal is to bridge gaps in legislation and ensure policies reflect the realities of women and marginalized groups.”

Key discussion topics include: Gender-sensitive budgeting, Legal frameworks for inclusive governance, Addressing systemic gender disparities and Core gender concepts in policy formulation.
