The House of Representatives has commenced an investigation into public safety concerns surrounding railroad operations affecting residents of Montserrado County Electoral District #1.

The decision was triggered by a communication submitted by Montserrado County Electoral District #1 Representative, Hon. Rugie Barry, stressing growing safety risks posed to communities living and operating near railroad corridors within the district.

Following the reading of the communication by the Chief Clerk Mildred Sayon of the House during plenary 8th Day sitting of the 1st Quarter of the 3rd session, members of the August Body deliberated on the matter and subsequently voted to mandate the House leadership to conduct a thorough investigation.

The investigation will examine compliance with public safety standards, the impact of railroad activities on surrounding communities, and measures being taken to prevent accidents and protect lives and property.

The House of Representatives reiterates its commitment to safeguarding public welfare and ensuring that all infrastructure operations within the Republic of Liberia adhere strictly to established safety regulations.
