Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has filed charges against several University of Liberia (UL) students following a violent protest that disrupted the campus and surrounding areas on April 28, 2025.
The demonstration turned chaotic when protesters (students) blocked the Capital By-Pass, reportedly attacked police officers with stones and glass bottles, and vandalized a marked police vehicle (License Plate #RL-307). After an investigation, authorities arrested and charged eight individuals—Daniel S., Deema, Kalifa Kanneh, Archi Sougha, Frank D. Jackson, Christopher Dugbe, Isaac William, and Musa A. Kermokai—with offenses including criminal conspiracy, rioting, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of public passages.

These charges arise from violations of Liberia’s Revised Penal Law, specifically Chapter 10 (Section 10.4), Chapter 14 (Section 14.23), Chapter 15 (Section 15.5), and Chapter 17 (Sections 17.1, 17.3, and 17.7). Police say their investigation remains ongoing, with efforts to identify and prosecute additional suspects still underway.
The LNP reiterated its commitment to maintaining public order while urging citizens to resolve disputes through legal and peaceful means. “The Liberia National Police remains dedicated to maintaining peace and order. The public is encouraged to respect the rule of law and address grievances through peaceful dialogue,” the police stated.
