Monrovia — A Liberian legislative delegation, led by Representative Ellen A. Attoh-Wreh, Chairperson of the Women’s Legislative Caucus, has held high-level discussions with former Indian Ambassador to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, as part of a South-South Peer Learning Mission currently underway in India.

The weeklong mission, running from August 10–16, brings Liberian lawmakers together with Indian institutions to examine India’s experience in women’s political participation, economic empowerment, gender-responsive budgeting, and responses to gender-based violence.

Representative Attoh-Wreh highlighted Liberia’s progress under the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Fund-supported initiative, which focuses on women’s leadership, skills development, and economic empowerment. She also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange between Liberia and India to advance gender-responsive governance.

The delegation’s engagement with Ambassador Kamboj represents a significant step in deepening bilateral ties and learning from India’s substantial experience in increasing women’s representation in political and public life.
