In commemoration of World Alzheimer’s Day, the Service Management Team of Geneva Reeves-Johnson Foundation, Inc. embarked on a weeklong rigorous outreach initiative, as part of efforts in raising more Alzheimer’s -dementia Awareness in communities. The outreach exercise was part of the Foundation’s weeklong activities in celebration of the 15th Anniversary of World Alzheimer’s Day.
The outreach exercise commenced on Sunday at different Churches and provided basic information, using the Foundation’s Useful Alzheimer’s -dementia Awareness A3 flyers, which have packaged information to provide enlightenment. The Foundation also continued on Tuesday, September 22, in several communities within Paynesville and interacted with both older people and caregivers through random engagements.
Those the foundation interacted with appreciated the GREJOF, Inc. so much for addressing such a timely and educational mental health issue in raising awareness. It was so interesting as some aging people acknowledged some of the early signs while others shared that they have family members in such categories, as such, the foundation shared with them key factors regarding compassionate care for their family members in such categories.
The Alzheimer’s-dementia awareness flyers were also posted in ideal areas in communities. The Outreach team also interacted with community dwellers in the Kpelleh Town Community, ELWA Hospital Market, and other adjacent areas. The awareness resonated well with those we interacted with.
It was such a wonderful engagement as the build-up to the Official 15th Anniversary to be celebrated by the foundation. GREJOF, Inc. continues to restore hopes, transform minds, and empower others. The Alzheimer’s -dementia Awareness is one of the key pillars of the foundation in raising more awareness.
Alzheimer’s-dementia awareness isn’t widely carried out in Liberia, as such, the foundation embarking on this means a lot for societal enlightenment. The Foundation will formally celebrate World Alzheimer’s Day today, September 25th, under the Global Theme: The Earlier You Know,
Scores of health centers have been invited and different groups in raising more awareness. Key Mental Health practitioners have also been invited as Facilitators for the symposium. The day’s celebration will begin with the Official parade beginning at 8:30 AM from the NP Gas Station opposite the SKD Sports Complex.
