Watta Kollie, a 22-year-old lady who claimed to be a disadvantaged youth, was caught early Sunday, July 2, 2023, in the District Office of Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Y. Kolubah in Old Road Community, with a minigun (a pistol), along with a laptop she stole upon entering the facility, but later disclosed that she went to hustle.

The young woman admitted to the police and reporters that she stole the firearm from another home next to the general market in the district after she discovered it in a black bag in a “Zing round house”, while on her regular patrol. Upon discovering the weapon, Watta said she decided to take it along with her without any intent to cause harm.

She maintains that her action was not influenced by anyone, but rather that she commits petty crimes for a living. Because of this, she took the weapon along with her while on what she termed her “Normal Hustle”, which landed her at the lawmaker’s office.

The mother of two, who currently resides on the street, maintains that she was not sent by anyone after the lawmaker insinuated that she was sent by the government.

Watta, who’s also a former resident of the community, noted that she earlier lied to the lawmaker that she was sent by another criminal out of fear, acknowledging the fact that a lot of people would have believed her since the fellow in question is a notorious criminal.

Prior to the lady’s testimony, Representative Yekeh Kolubah informed the media that the young lady was caught with the laptop and the pistol. Upon quizzing her, he was informed that she was accompanied by two other notorious criminals, who awaited her outside the compound.

As disclosed by the lawmaker, the minigun was loaded with one round (Bullets), while she had seven others. Representative Kolubah, who was not on the scene when the young lady was caught, said he was previously informed by his security, who’s only identified as Joseph, about the lady’s action.

He sees the situation as an assassination attempt that was influenced by the ruling establishment, considering the fact that Liberians are approaching elections.

Representative Kolubah recorded that his life has been threatened by members of the sitting government, and he also believes that people have been placed in the LNP to have him assassinated.

Amid the different attacks he has had, the opposition lawmaker said he has informed the Justice Minister, but he has always been told that they don’t have any remedy for his situation. He described the recent incident as alarming and a vivid indication that his life is at risk.

Meanwhile, Watta Kollie was later turned over to the Liberia National Police and taken to the LNP Zone 3 base in Congo Town, where further investigations will be conducted.

Recently, the plenary of the House of Representatives mandated its committee on National Security to investigate a complaint filed by Representative Yekeh Kolubah.

The House’s decision was taken on Thursday, June 22, 2023, during its 12th Day Sitting of the 2nd Quarter of the 6th session. It was triggered by a communication from the Montserrado lawmaker, in which he informed the plenary about an incident that occurred at his premises in District #10, Montserrado County.

Representative Kolubah stated in his communication that after a week after his departure from Liberia, his former security, in the person of Abu Kieta, led a group of Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Officers into his premises without a warrant from a court and took away some of his properties, among which were three motorbikes and three sets of Television.

The lawmaker craved the indulgence of the Honorable Body to invite the Minister of Justice and the Director of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency to state under whose authority his premises were invaded and to ensure that everything that was taken away from his place is restored.

Following the reading of the lawmaker’s communication, a motion was proffered by Bong County Electoral District 3 Representative Marvin Cole to forward the communication to the House’s National Security Committee to probe the matter and report within two weeks.
