-Deputy Speaker Fallah Warns Unity Party Officials

MONROVIA, Liberia — Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah on Thursday issued a blunt warning to the governing Unity Party, urging its officials to abandon arrogance, reconnect with ordinary Liberians, and serve with humility or face replacement.

Speaking at the headquarters of his National Independent Movement for Boakai (NIMBO) in Monrovia, Fallah delivered sharp advice to party leaders, reminding them that political power rests ultimately in the hands of the people.

“Unity Party, if you want to be like some of the comrades today, remember when we started,” Fallah said. “Soon morning, the men did not want to bring their glasses down. Now you are in the driver’s seat. Bring your glasses down. Bring your wings down.”

He warned that no leader stands above the electorate. “The decision is in the hands of the Liberian people,” he stressed. “Bring your wings down.”

Fallah cautioned that failure to heed the public’s concerns could send the party back into opposition, where it would struggle to be heard. “When the Liberian people decide, you will be in the community again. You will take the left wing and be battling every day, we won’t hear again,” he said.

He reminded party officials that they currently hold a rare opportunity to serve the nation. “Today, you have the opportunity to serve your people,” Fallah said. “Serve with diligence. Serve your people with commitment.”

The Deputy Speaker tied the political fate of individual officials directly to President Joseph Boakai’s electoral success. “When Joseph Boakai is re-elected, you are sure of getting your jobs back,” he stated. “If Joseph Boakai is not re-elected — God forbid — some of you will not get jobs. So you must bring your wings down.”

Fallah urged party leaders to return to the grassroots. “Go back into the slums. Go back into the ghettos. Go back into the communities. Work for the people. Work for the government,” he instructed.

He also issued a stark performance warning. “If you don’t do that, we will call your name that you are not helping the government,” Fallah said. “If we have to replace you, we will replace you. Our people are complaining. They are crying.”

Thomas P. Fallah is the current Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Liberia. Known politically as “T5,” he is the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives. He represents Lofa County’s District #1 after previously serving multiple terms representing Montserrado County.

Originally a high-ranking steward of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Fallah officially severed ties with the party and former President George Weah. He has fully aligned his political allegiance with President Joseph Boakai and the ruling Unity Party (UP) government.

In late 2024, the CDC officially expelled Fallah. The party cited a “betrayal of party unity” after he aligned with a majority faction of lawmakers during a legislative leadership impasse. He launched the pro-government political organization called the National Independent Movement for Boakai. President Boakai publicly lauded him as a “goal-getter” and dependable leader during the unveiling of the organization’s headquarters in Voinjama, Lofa County.
