– AFL Launches “Operation Restore Hope IV” in Southeastern Liberia

The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has officially launched “Operation Restore Hope IV,” a comprehensive security initiative designed to address the growing threats of transnational crime and illegal activities in Liberia’s southeastern border regions. The operation comes in response to increasing reports of foreign nationals and locals engaging in smuggling, drug trafficking, illicit mining, and maritime crimes in *Grand Gedeh, Sinoe, Maryland, and River Gee counties, particularly along the Liberian-Ivorian border.
To counter these security challenges, the AFL has developed a strategic planninvolving joint land and riverine patrols, coordinated with civil authorities, to deny unauthorized access and dismantle criminal networks operating in the region. A specialized task force will be deployed across the affected counties to locate and expel illegal inhabitants while supporting local law enforcement in maintaining order.
Additionally, the Liberia Coast Guard will intensify surveillance of Liberian waters to intercept suspicious movements and prevent maritime crimes during the operation. Military officials emphasize that the mission’s primary objective is to protect national sovereignty, ensure the safety of Liberian citizens, and restore stability in the southeast.
Brigadier General Prince C. Johnson III, AFL Chief of Staff, stated that “Operation Restore Hope IV” is a necessary measure to uphold security and deter further exploitation of Liberia’s borders. The public is encouraged to cooperate by reporting any unusual activities to authorities, as the success of the operation depends on community vigilance and collaboration.
This large-scale deployment accentuates Liberia’s commitment to combating cross-border crime and maintaining regional security. Further updates will be provided as the operation progresses.
