-Says it saves government $US1.9million annually

The CSA and Ecobank of Liberia have launched a 50% salary advance scheme for civil all government servants to minimize hardship for government workers.
The program allows civil servants to access up to 50% of their salary in advance, which they can repay within three days. Josiah Joekai, the Director General of the CSA, highlighted the purpose of the scheme to support civil servants in managing their finances more effectively.
In addition to Ecobank, the CSA has partnered with several commercial banks including LBDI, UBA, IB Limited, GT Bank, and Afriland Bank to implement the 50% salary advancement program. Joekai assured that civil servants holding salary accounts with these banks will soon be able to benefit from the program without the need to switch their banking institutions.
He emphasized the importance of enhancing the well-being of government employees in Liberia, stating that the salary advance initiative will not only benefit the workers and their families but also contribute to the overall development of the country.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Civil Servant Agency Mr. Josiah Joekai also stated, that the CSA is developing credentials, an integrity audit, and a background-checking Policy Manual for interested government workers.
He claims the credential evaluations, verification, and background checks will ensure the operational efficiency of more than 103 government institutions, and mitigate credentials falsification and discrepancies associated with employees.
CSA boss also said that the credentials evaluations, verification, and background check will enforce the adherence to legal regulatory and compliance mechanisms, Foster accountability and transparency in the employment process, standardization of credentials audits, and background checks across the 103 spending entities.
He said the credentials evaluations, verification, and background check Policy manual will be completed on the 29th of May 2024.
At the same time, The Civil Servant Agency has disclosed 421 blocklisted employees from 11 government entities with a total amount of monthly salary US$ 164,081.24 and annual salary of US$ 1,968,862.88 from various government entities.
He said the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs contains ten individuals with a monthly salary of US$6,269.24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contains twenty – eight individuals with a monthly salary of US$15,916, Liberia National Police ninety – eight individuals with a salary of US$15,680, Liberia Land Authority forty-one persons with a Monthly of US$12,164, Ministry of mines and energy fifty-seven individuals with monthly salary of US$24032, LIPA thirty- six individuals with a monthly salary of US$33,632, NCCRM Twenty- four persons with a monthly salary of US$32085, ministry of justice thirty- eight persons with a monthly salary of US$4,154, Ministry of education eight- four persons with a monthly salary of US$10,216, and CSA fourteen persons with a monthly salary of US$9737, CSA mobile money four persons with a monthly salary of US$196.
According to him, the government of Liberia will be benefiting with an amount of US$1,968,862.88 Yearly to carry out another development across the country.
