For several days, the media has even flooded with reports from Western Liberia about the occurrence of mudslide at the Liberty Gold Mine of Bea Mountain in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County- which reportedly led to the death of two persons.

Till date- concerns continue to heighten as the company has reneged on responding to the issue, and they have refused to grant access to the media and notable Civil Society organizations to the actual site where the incident is to have occurred.

Report says at least two persons are fear dead at the Liberty Gold Mine of Bea Mountain in Kinjor, following the incident. It was also made known that bodies were pulled out of the rubble from the affected minding communities. Sources say at least 85 other mineworkers at the gold mines are still entrapped under the rubble.

Over the weekend- Aid Agencies and Civil Society Organization officials who visited the facility have recommended the need for an independent investigation into the alleged Kinjor mudslide amidst continued silence of Bea Mountain authorities.

Reporters who visited the area were prevented from entering into the main facility of the mudslide due to company’s security restrictions.

On Friday, October 20, 2023, several civil organizations, including the National Civil Society Council of Liberia, made a visit in the affect Kinjor community in Grand Cape Mount County.

In an interaction with Journalist following the tour of the affected communities, an official of the National Civil Society Council, John Alexander Nyahn, said his organization was in the area as part of a wider investigation following reports of a landslide at the Liberty Glod Mines, in   Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County.

Mr. Nyahn stated that during their visit to the area, Grand Cape Mount County officials, local residents, including some mine workers have confirmed the occurrence of a landside claiming at least two lives with 85 other mine workers entrapped in the debris.
