-WAEC-Liberia results reveal.

In recent years, the educational landscape has witnessed a significant shift, with females consistently proving their mettle and excelling in various fields. This triumph is further exemplified by their outstanding performance in national exams at both the level of higher learning and high school. 

This was vividly displayed on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, when the Liberia Office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), announced two females, who emerged with the first and second highest results, amongst the best three candidates that sat the exams.

Desire Sayegar, and Priscilla Cooper of the Ford Madden Christian Academy, were named as the best two performing students, along with  Langord J. Zayzay of the Dominion Christian Fellowship School, who emerged as the third best student in the just ended WASSCE Exams, by WAEC-Liberia Boss, Dale Gbotoe.

As disclosed by Mr. Dale Gbotoe, 46,448 12th Graders passed out of the 49, 383 that wrote this year’s exams in the country.

According to him, the number of students that passed the regional exams from Liberia amounts to 94.06%.

Desire Sayegar of the Ford Madden Christian Academy, obtained a total grade point of 523.7439, while Priscilla Cooper who’s also from the same institution, obtained a grade point of 5.16.9156.

Interestingly, the females astuteness didn’t stop at best two, but  9 males and 21 females from 4 schools performed well in five subjects, including English and Maths in Montserrado and Margibi counties.

Considering the females outputs, it’s worth celebrating their remarkable achievements, as it’s a proven fact that they have demonstrated their brilliance and dedication in these crucial assessments, not just by exhibiting their strength at their school level, but becoming the best two, out of the best three performing students.

With the exquisite performances of Desire Sayegar of the Ford Madden Christian Academy, Priscilla Cooper of the Ford Madden Christian Academy, it’s safe to say that gone are the days when female were confined in underperforming in national exams. 

The exceptional performances of these females in the 2023 WSSSCE exams is a testament to their unwavering determination and resilience. These exams serve as a platform for females to showcase their intellectual prowess and challenge any preconceived notions about gender-based academic disparities.

Excluding academic performance, the brilliance displayed by these females in national exam is not only commendable but also serves as an inspiration for generations to come. With each success story, barriers are shattered, and traditional gender roles are redefined. 

These female students have proven time and again that they are just as capable, if not more, of achieving academic excellence, regardless of the subject or field of study.

More to that, the outstanding performance of females in this year’s WASSCE exams is a powerful catalyst for change.

By excelling academically, these young women are not only securing a brighter future for themselves but also paving the way for a more inclusive and equal society. Their achievements inspire and empower other girls to dream big, break stereotypes, and embrace their own potential to become future leaders in various professional domains.

The remarkable achievements of females in this year’s national exams deserve utmost veneration, praise and recognition. Their brilliance, dedication, and unwavering spirit have shattered stereotypes, broken barriers, and paved the way for a more inclusive and equal society. 

With the current results, it proves that Liberian students have demonstrated exceptional performance in seven (7) subjects, despite encountering challenges in English.

Officials of the Ministry of Education have said It’s reassuring because efforts are underway to provide students with the necessary support and resources for significant improvement in these areas.

Looking at the results from 2021 to present, it shows that it has significantly improved.
