– Liberians heighten calls for Raji’s resignation

Radio callers in recent weeks have launched a scathing attack on the Liberia Football Association (LFA), describing the leadership of its President, Mustapha Raji as poor.
This is unconnected with the recent wave of protests by followers of football headed by advocate Yudu N. Miller.
According to the disappointed fans, Mr. Raji must resign from his post with immediate effect since the Association has not achieved anything under his watch.
The callers described the association as corrupt and wanted the LFA President to resign with immediate effect before the 2026 election.
Their comments come after Raji appeared as a guest on the Thursday, May 30, 2024 edition of the OK Morning Rush.
The callers stressed the LFA is corrupt under its leader Raji and so, the President must resign to purge the association.
“Raji in his capacity as LFA President, has made a series of rash decisions which have plunged our football into its lowest state ever. His inability to lead and be in tune with the demands of modern football administration are enough reasons for him to resign and he must resign” James Doe, a caller on Kool FM a few weeks ago when Raji served as guest
“I doubt if he knows the degree of pain that his leadership has caused football-loving Liberians.
I almost collapsed the last time we were beaten by Malawi at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in the World Cup qualifier. You need to see how I was sweating right inside a fully air-conditioned car on my way home,” said Doe.
A follower of sports, Morris Kormah also blamed the latest football disaster on the mediocre leadership of those at the helm of affairs of Liberian football and called for Raji’s resignation.
“I have lamented that he has killed our football. The standard has been falling with each passing day. “It is unfortunate. Unless something dramatic is done, Liberian football is on a cliff and the decline is going to continue unabated.
“The managers of the country football have failed in all ramifications. The league, national teams, and development structures have all crumbled. We need to overhaul the system,” he said.
This is not the first time Liberians are calling on the LFA president to resign. It will be recalled that similar calls were made in 2023 when Lonestar suffered two straight home defeats in the race to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
protesters have been assembling by Orange Liberia headquarters and the Liberia Football Association headquarters in Monrovia and Congo Town with placards of inscriptions synonymous with calling for the resignation of Raji.
Some of the protest signs read: “We Demand To Know Orange Sponsorship Deal With LFA.“ “How much is Orange Giving LFA For Lone Star? “ “We Want To Know LFA Headquarters Cost. ‘What Did Raji Do With US$ 319.000 Loan Taking From GT Bank.” “Our Lone Star Has Become Laughing Stuff Under Raji.” “Raji Please Resign. Raji Must Resign. “Liberia Football Deserves Better. “
It can be recalled at the LFA 28 Congress held on April 13, 2024, Liberia’s Deputy Minister for Sports, G. Andy Quamie criticized Mustapha Raji on his refusal to adhere to the burning concerns of football stakeholders.
He emphasized that the LFA president has subsequently and ideally refused to listen to criticism.
His statement came after Raji accused stakeholders of being unrealistic about the revamping and progress currently at the football house.
