Brewsville, Liberia – Members of Gedeh African Methodist Episcopal Church on Sunday celebrated Mrs. Roseline Irons Toe after she was honored as “Mother of the Year 2026/2027” in recognition of her years of service, dedication, and commitment to the church and community.
Mrs. Toe, who currently serves as Vice President of the church’s Usher Board and Director of the Conference Level Delegation of the church, was recognized during a special ceremony attended by church members, family, friends, and well-wishers.
The latest recognition adds to her growing record of service, having also been honored in 2024 as Mother of the Year by the church.
Speaking on behalf of the family during the program, her son, Nathan Charles, thanked the church for what he described as a meaningful and humbling honor bestowed upon his mother.
“On behalf of my mother and our entire family, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the church for selecting my mother as ‘Mother of the Year.’ We are truly honored and humbled by this recognition,” Charles said.
He noted that his mother has always served the church with “love, faith, compassion, and dedication,” adding that her work has never been motivated by public praise but by her commitment to God and helping others.
“My mother has always served with love, faith, compassion, and dedication, not for recognition, but because of her commitment to God and to serving others,” he added.
Charles also praised the women of the church for their spiritual support during difficult moments in his life, particularly during his battle with COVID-19 in 2022.
“I can recall on numerous occasions when women of the Geda AME Church gathered and prayed for me when I was ill and going through tough times,” he said. “In 2022, when I almost died of COVID-19, the women got on the phone, and the only words I kept hearing were, ‘You will not die, you will recover in Jesus’ name,’ and because I believed their words so much, I recovered quickly.”
As a gesture of appreciation to the church’s women ministry, Charles donated an initial amount of one hundred thousand Liberian Dollars (L$100,000) to the Women’s Missionary Department to support humanitarian activities and assistance to vulnerable members of the church and community.
“Let’s look into our community and into our church; some people need financial help as we continue to pray for them and share the word of God,” he stated.
He further commended the church’s media department for its public engagement efforts and thanked family members and guests who traveled from different places to attend the occasion.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Toe also expressed appreciation to the church, family members, and friends for the recognition and support shown to her over the years.
The event was marked by prayers, thanksgiving, and celebrations as members of the congregation described Mrs. Toe as a devoted Christian mother whose leadership and service continue to impact lives within the church and beyond.
