The House of Representatives- HOR, has mandated its Investment & Concessions and Judiciary committees to review an incentive agreement between Liberia and Liberian American Poultry-LAP.

Plenary reached the decision Thursday, 31 August during the 3rd day of the Special extraordinary sitting of the 6th Session following a communication from President George Weah.

President Weah stated that the agreement was signed on November 25, 2022, by both Parties for the construction of a poultry farm.

The President said the poultry farm, is designed to host about six hundred thousand (600,000) birds with the capacity to produce about one hundred eighty-six million one hundred fifty thousand (186,150,000) eggs annually.

He said the total cost of the investment is valued at Fifteen Million United States Dollars (USD15,000,000.00).

“Under the Agreement, LAP will also be growing maize on 200 acres of land”, he stated. 

The Liberian Leader said LAP intends to produce 30,000 tons of chicken feed annually from its nucleus estate, while at the same time, seeking to work with small holders by providing seed inputs and technical support for the growth of maize.
