The Director General of the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA), Hon. Princess Eva Cooper, held discussions with H.E. Ahmed Abdel Azim, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Liberia. The engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in tourism development, investment, promotion, and air connectivity.

A key priority of the engagement was exploring opportunities to facilitate the introduction of EgyptAir services to Liberia. This initiative could significantly improve international air connectivity, expand travel options, increase tourist arrivals, and strengthen Liberia’s access to regional and global tourism markets.

The meeting also explored opportunities for collaboration in destination development, tourism marketing, medical tourism, ecotourism, cultural heritage preservation, and capacity-building for Liberian tourism professionals.

Director General Cooper expressed Liberia’s interest in leveraging Egypt’s extensive experience in tourism development and cultural heritage management to support the growth of Liberia’s tourism sector. She also disclosed plans for an official visit to Egypt to advance discussions on potential EgyptAir connectivity to Liberia, explore investment opportunities in tourism infrastructure, strengthen partnerships between tourism operators, and identify practical areas for technical cooperation.

Ambassador Abdel Azim reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s tourism development and welcomed the proposed visit. He highlighted opportunities for professional training through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, underscoring Egypt’s broader commitment to South–South cooperation and capacity-building across Africa.

The engagement forms part of LNTA’s strategic efforts to expand international partnerships, advocate for improved air access to Liberia, attract tourism investment, strengthen institutional capacity, and position Liberia as an emerging tourism destination.
