…As New Leadership Vows to Uphold Integrity.

The Liberia National Bar Association on Friday, November 30, 2024, elected a new code of officers to the leadership of the National Bar for three years.

At the election which was held in Ganta, Nimba County, saw Cllr. Bono Varma, Cllr. F. Juah Lawson, Cllr. Elisha Forkeyorand Atty. Yemi  Shobayo-Williams was elected to a gender equality leadership as President, Vice President, General Secretary, and Treasurer respectively of the Liberia National Bar.

Meanwhile, the newly elected leadership through the President-elect of the Liberia National Bar, Cllr. Bono Varma has described his election as a victory not only for his supporters but a victory for democracy and the rules of law in Liberia.

“This is a victory for democracy, this is a victory for the rule of law in Liberia.” Cllr Varma who attained 309 votes out of 449 votes cast, which constituted 69.12%,  in his post-victory remark vowed to collaborate the Bar with the National to enhance the rule of law across Liberia.

“We are going to work with the supreme court, the executive, and the judiciary branch of government to ensure that the rule of law is adhered to in our country.” Initially, Cllr. Varma intimated that the Liberia National Bar Association under his administration will work with the Supreme Court to ensure that legal reforms are made to law where necessary.

He continued by adding that the new leadership of the LNBA will ensure the welfare of every member. At the same time, the vice president-elect, Cllr. F. Juah Lawson has vowed to complement the presidency of the National Bar in ensuring that the Bar continues to remain a beacon of Integrity and a pillow for the maintenance of peace and security and respect for the rule of law.

In furtherance, the LNBA at its just-ended national convention has adopted a resolution to uphold the integrity of providing access to justice across the country. “That members of the LNBA uphold integrity to have access to justice” The Bar is resolute that it will ensure access to justice by providing a prodondo service through a regulatory framework by providing the necessary training under its ADI platform.

The LNBA

The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) was established on February 4, 1907 by an act of the National Legislature. The Liberian National Bar Association comprised of lawyers, judges and law students.

LNBA’s vision is to ensure an independent, ethical, and improved judiciary and legal education system in which access to justice is effectively managed, benefiting all Liberians.

The Association’s mission is to Promote access to justice, legal professional ethics, effective justice, and enhance fraternal bond among LNBA members and between the association and Bars of foreign countries.
