The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Liberia National Police (LNP) made a significant breakthrough on Thursday, October 3, 2024, by apprehending five individuals in connection with an armed robbery targeting a Chinese national named Joseph Xu, who resides in Congo Town. The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Johnson (alias Wallace), Alfred Lablah (alias Puyol), Junior Bundor (alias Prince), Malachi Eze (alias Promise), and Leemu Tabah, were caught following a thorough investigation into the incident that occurred at Xu’s residence on Friday, September 13, 2024.
During the armed robbery, the suspects reportedly invaded Xu’s home in the early hours of the morning, where they held Xu and his wife at gunpoint before making off with an unspecified amount of cash and other valuable items. The daring nature of the crime shocked the community and prompted heightened efforts by law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The police’s swift action led to the interception and arrest of the suspects on October 3, 2024, as they attempted to return to Xu’s property under the cover of darkness. The suspects were apprehended in two separate taxi vehicles, which were seized along with incriminating items such as a pin bar, a steel cutter, and multiple keys. This evidence strengthens the case against the alleged perpetrators and underscores the thoroughness of the police investigation.
The vehicles involved in the crime, one bearing the registration number TX-03201 and a Nissan sedan lacking a license plate, are currently being held at the LNP headquarters as part of the ongoing investigation. The authorities are diligently working to gather more evidence and unravel the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in the robbery targeting Joseph Xu.
