Members of the National Civil Society Council of Liberia have reelected Madam Loretta Alethea Pope Kai as their chairman following their general assembly.

Madame Pope Kai was elected in the National Civil Society Council of Liberia assembly in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, on a white ballot.

Members of the Council deemed it worthwhile to provide a path for her to complete her unfinished duties based on her performance over the past few years, despite the fact that other seats were being contested by multiple candidates.

The Council of Liberia’s general assembly began on December 14, 2022, and concluded on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Zwedru, Grand Geldeh County.

John Alexander Nyahn was chosen co-chair, Veronica Songor Johnson was elected member at large, Joanna Korpa Ballah was elected treasurer, and Lincoln Johnson was elected regional coordinator.

Other key officials elected were Everlyn Barry, Coordinator of Region 2, Lawrence Myers, Coordinator of Region 3, and Cece Muna Nimely, Coordinator of Region 5.

The elections committee led by Tamba F. J. Johnson inaugurated the Pope Kai leadership on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

In 2019, Madame President Kai was chosen for the first time as Chairperson of the NCSCL.

Following her election as Chairperson of the Council, her lobbying efforts resulted in grants, loans, and a great deal more for registered civil society organizations throughout Liberia.

In March of this year, the National Civil Society Council, under the direction of Madam Kai, initiated a $87,00 (eighteen seven thousand dollar) project to combat misconceptions regarding COVID-19.
