The Director General of the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA), Marilyn T. Logan, has received the 2026 Golden Image Award for Corporate Excellence in the petroleum sector, pledging that the authority will strengthen accountability, integrity, and the responsible management of the country’s natural resources.

Ambassador Julie Endee, Chief Executive Officer of the Golden Image Awards, presented the award at a ceremony honoring individuals and institutions for their contributions to national development, governance, investment, peacebuilding, and community advancement.

The organizers conferred the honor on Logan in recognition of the authority’s work in Liberia’s petroleum sector. Now in its 16th edition, the Golden Image Awards recognizes individuals, institutions, and countries for achievements across various areas of public service and development.

Speaking after receiving the award, Logan accepted the recognition on behalf of the authority’s board and management, describing it as an encouragement to improve the institution’s work.

Ambassador Endee said the recognition demonstrated that Logan’s efforts were being noticed and appreciated, adding that it would motivate the institution to perform its responsibilities with greater commitment. “We are resolved to do even better than what we have done, with integrity and accountability for the benefit of our people,” Logan said.

The LPRA Boss reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to ensuring that Liberia’s natural resources benefit citizens both now and in future generations. She emphasized that the authority’s responsibility extends beyond regulating the petroleum sector to ensuring that the country’s natural resources are managed in a manner that contributes to national development and improves the lives of Liberians.

Logan expressed gratitude to the award organizers, saying the recognition would strengthen the authority’s determination to carry out its mandate responsibly. Ambassador Endee congratulated Logan and expressed confidence in her leadership, saying the recognition was intended to encourage institutions and individuals making contributions in the petroleum sector.

The award presentation highlighted the importance of institutional leadership, accountability, and responsible resource management in advancing Liberia’s development. Logan ended by assuring the public that the authority would remain committed to managing the petroleum sector responsibly and ensuring that the benefits of the country’s natural resources reach all Liberians.

The institution manages the regulatory framework of Liberia’s upstream oil and gas sector, spearheads hydrocarbon licensing, and promotes a transparent operational environment to attract international investment.

Under her leadership, the LPRA launched the 2024 Licensing Round for offshore hydrocarbon exploration and concluded Liberia’s first major petroleum agreement in over a decade. In May 2026, she was selected into the prestigious fifth cohort of Amujae Leaders by the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development. In October 2026, she received additional recognition for Corporate Excellence in the petroleum sector.

Prior to taking the helm at the LPRA, Logan held multiple senior leadership roles at the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), including Head of Administration and Officer-in-Charge. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Liberia.

Meanwhile, the Golden Image Award (GIA) is an esteemed national and international accolade in Liberia that honors individuals, organizations, and nations for outstanding contributions to peace, leadership, democracy, cultural excellence, and humanitarian service.

Ambassador Queen Juli Endee, Liberia’s Traditional Queen and Cultural Ambassador, created the award in 2010 through the Liberia Crusaders for Peace. The inaugural ceremony took place in 2011 and was officially endorsed as a national event by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first elected female president. The head of state serves as the convener during Liberia’s Independence Day celebrations.
