Fallen Bowier

Many tributes continue to pour in since the demise of former Minister of Information and astute statesman Emmanuel J. Bowier.

According to family sources, Bowier died last Sunday, following a protracted battle with diabetes.

President George Weah and former Vice President Joseph Boakai are among throngs of Liberians who have been eulogizing the fallen Liberian historian since his passing.

In a tribute in memory to Bowier, former VP Boakai recalls their days at the University of Liberia as students, actively participating in students’ politics.

Former VP Boakai extends his deepest condolences to the Bowier family.

For his part, President Weah expressed sadness at news of the unfortunate demise of former Bowier.

The Liberian leader described the renowned statesman as a trendsetter who contributed immensely to the country’s political history, as well as to its arts and culture. Bowier served as Information Minister under former President Samuel Doe.

Before his death, he was an active participant in national discourses on the future of the country.

 The former Minister, who was widely read, often used his platforms to provide historical references in order to serve as a guide for how current affairs should be handled.

 President Weah conveys his sympathy to the Bowier family and all those impacted by his death. He urged them to take solace in the Lord.
