In a heartening show of unity and purpose, newly elected and current community leaders of District #7, Montserrado County, are taking decisive steps toward improving the welfare, health, and cleanliness of their communities. Following a peaceful and transparent election held on May 3, 2025, the elected leadership has called on residents and stakeholders to join hands in a collective effort for transformation.
The event brought together notable figures including Hon. John Charuk Siafa, Mayor of Monrovia; Hon. Emmanuel Dahn, Representative of District #7; the Community Services Department; Liberia National Police; the Monrovia City Corporation; the Elder Council of Mechlin & Randall Streets; and members of the Fourth Estate.
A moment of silence was observed to honor community members who have passed on while striving to build a better community.
Special recognition was given by the newly elected Chairman of Mechlin and Randall Street Mr. Michael Cole and others for their leadership in service. Appreciation also went to community dwellers, family members, and supporters for their invaluable contributions.
The newly elected leadership acknowledged the peaceful and inclusive nature of the recent elections, stating, “Though we won, clearly it tells us that we have an immense task to carry out, especially in uniting our people.” Chairman Cole said.
Their leadership encouraged unity, cooperation, and support for initiatives aimed at development, particularly cleanliness and crime prevention. “Our community is very dirty,” a representative stated. “We want and will be willing to work with the Monrovia City Corporation and Liberia National Police to fight crimes and sanitation issues.”
Early actions by the team have already shown impact, with community disputes being resolved and health emergencies being addressed. Two individuals in critical condition were transported to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital thanks to the District #7 Ambulance Service, under the leadership of Chairman-elect Michael B. Cole.
Additionally, a public appeal was made to assist a resident, Togbah Mulbah, whose life is in jeopardy, as well as to support a lady whose property was partially damaged by a collapsed wall. The property is now being renovated through community intervention.
Collaborations are ongoing with the Community Service Department and Community-Based Enterprises (CBEs) to provide jobs and clean the area. Plans are also underway to establish a First Aid Training Program to benefit local youths as part of a broader empowerment agenda.
The leadership emphasized, “Transparency, accountability, youth empowerment, advocacy, and responsible leadership remain the hallmarks of our mission.”
As the new administration sets its plans in motion, residents are urged to unite for the common good, with assurance that all ideas and contributions will be welcomed in building a better District #7.
At the same time, the Representative of District # 7 of Montsrrado embraces the newly elected leadership idea towards community development.
He said, his office will work very closely with with the people of Mechlin and Randall street when a come to good community initiatives through development, education, sanitation and health.
Representative Dahn emphasized that before the welcoming of Community’s development, however the leadership should focus on reconciliation among dwellers with in the Mechlin and Randall.
He also added that the new leadership should always focus on community priorities rather than looking at things that are not in the interest of the people of the community.
