MONROVIA – A motorcyclist died on Saturday, November 22, 2025, following a collision with a Liberia National Police (LNP) patrol vehicle that was part of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s convoy. The incident, which occurred at the Todee Junction, left another individual unconscious.

The President was returning from Gbarnga, Bong County, where he had attended the National Assembly of Chiefs and Tribal Governors the previous day.
Eyewitnesses at the scene identified the motorcyclist as Peter Kamara. The Executive Mansion has yet to release a statement regarding the collision.

This is not the first such incident involving a presidential convoy. On July 24, 2024, a fatal accident occurred along the Robertsfield Highway. In that case, a tricycle made a U-turn in front of the motorcade, resulting in a collision that caused one death and three injuries, according to Presidential Press Secretary Kula Fofana.

In January 2025, the Executive Protection Service (EPS) announced stringent new measures for the secure movement of presidential motorcades. A press release from the EPS explicitly warned that motorists must yield to sirens and that failure to comply “may lead to a response from the EPS to neutralize potential threats.”

This directive is grounded in Section 10.45 of the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of Liberia, which mandates that all motorists yield to emergency and official vehicles.
