11-year-old girl in Cape Mount
The government-run Liberia News Agency (LINA) has reported that police in Garwula District, Grand Cape Mount County have launched a manhunt for two motorcyclists who allegedly gang raped an eleven-year-old girl.
LINA quoting police report, says the two suspects allegedly committed the act on Eid Ul Fitir Day (Ramadan Day) in Tienemia Town, Garwula District.
The two suspects, whose names were not disclosed to the press, are said to be residents of the same community.
The report revealed that after the eleven-year-old was sexually assaulted, she was taken to the Sinje Health Center but was later transferred to the St. Timothy Government Referral Hospital in Robertsport, where it was confirmed that she was sexually abused.
Authorities at the Sinje Check Point disclosed that following the complaint, officers of the Liberia National Police were dispatched to the area to ensure the alleged perpetrators are arrested and made to face trial.
Meanwhile, the police have assured residents of the area that the two suspects would be made to answer to the allegation of gang rape levied against them.
Sources from the St. Timothy Government Hospital have informed the LINA that the girl is undergoing treatment and is gradually responding to the treatment.
