The National Elections Commission (NEC) has commenced the candidate Nomination Exercise for By-elections in Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh, and Nimba Counties, for four vacant seats in the House of Representatives.
The Candidate Nomination Exercise, which commenced Monday, at the Headquarters of the NEC in Sinkor, will end on Friday, 24 September 2021.
According to an NEC-Liberia statement issued Monday, 13 September 2021, the Candidate Nomination Exercise runs from Monday to Friday, at 9:00AM to 05:00PM, daily.
The statement adds that the Candidate Nomination Period is in line with key dates released for the by-elections in the four counties, and warns that all aspirants for the vacant seats must appear in person to return the nomination package during the period.
Package of aspirants of political parties, coalitions or alliances will be delivered to the Chairperson or the Secretary General of the parties for distribution to members, while independent aspirants can pick up the forms in person or through designated persons, the NEC statement said. Meanwhile, in a related development, NEC at its Headquarters, on Friday, 10 September 2021, began the accreditation exercise for party agents, the media, as well as local and international observers for the impending by-elections in Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh, and Nimba Counties.
