NIMBA CO.— Nimba County’s Superintendent, Madam Kou Meapeh Gono has finally achieved a campaign for decency aimed at restoring a sense of respect and dignity at the county’s presidential palace in Sanniquellie City. The superintendent’s action is in fulfillment of her promise and commitment to achieve President Joseph Boakai’s agenda to rescue and improve the livelihoods of the ordinary people.

Sup. Gono has also embarked on an eviction exercise against unauthorized and insignificant occupants of the superintendent’s compound to vacate. The county’s superintendent whose appointment came under criticism based on her lifespan in the US has proven the wrong about her preferment and women’s leadership.

Her administration aligns with the call for women’s participation in politics and decision-making, echoing the significance of gender balance and inclusivity which are very crucial in nation-building.

After being in ruins for decades, Nimba County’s Superintendent Compound has entered a new era due to massive renovations, and eviction of illegal and insignificant occupants as citizens heaped praises on Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono for prioritizing development.

Fresh air blows through the Superintendent Compound, as passersby, citizens, and residents of Nimba County commended the progressive female superintendent, for the startup’s astonishing job.

Sup. Kou Meapeh Gono, a daughter of the county who many claimed stranger and unpopular continued to work beyond critics and detractors’ imagination since news of renovation work and achievement of decency at the abandoned and deserted superintendent compound building which work began months ago.

Residents comprising of women, men, youths, students, chiefs and elders, marketers, and the media community of Nimba have lauded the female superintendent for the unbelievable job, giving the historic compound which served as the AU birthplace an admirable facelift after years of neglect and ruins.

The building is the official residence of the Nimba County Superintendent and in time memorial hosted other national and international guests and government officials including the president of the state visit in the county. The status of the building years ago brought untold embarrassment, and disgrace to the county, leaving it as a ghost camp.

The compound which earlier hosted three African leaders has not been able to host any guests coming to the county because of the condition, and poor sanitation of the building due to past superintendents’ bad leadership and selfishness.

Meanwhile, the cost attached to the renovation job is not yet disclosed but it is expected to cover about hundreds and thousands of United States Dollars. On Monday, 8 April 2024, the Liberian Senate Committee on Internal Affairs confirmed Madam Kou Meapeh Gono as Superintendent of Nimba County.

The Eviction:

However, in a significant eviction notice, several unauthorized people occupying structures within the superintendent compound are leaving due to eviction order.

The eviction followed a directive from Superintendent Gino, stating that those buildings were privately occupied and encroachments on municipal lands reserved for public purposes. Years ago, several residents occupied and began illegal construction on the land without obtaining permission. Notably, hundreds family members privately residing in the area are expected to move in the coming days.
