-Condemns his action

NIMBA COUNTY — At long last, the administration of Nimba University has broken silence after one of its staff members allegedly attacked, and cut off the hand of a lady for passing in his yard.

In a press release, the university categorically condemned the action carried out by one of its finance members, Daniel Nya Tokpah who on April 7 violently attacked, using a cutlass on Jessica Davis Wandah and amputating one of her hands.

The release under the signature of the university’s Director of Communication and Public Relations, Rev. Alastair Zorh, and the university Vice President for Academic Affairs, Samuel Duo said it “does not condone the gruesome attack on Jessica Davis Wandah”, describing it as inhuman and wicked actions to the largest degree.

Following his action, the Liberia National Police in Ganta, Nimba County arrested, charged, and sent to court, the Accountant of the Nimba University, Daniel N. Tokpah for allegedly cutting off Jessica’s hand for passing in his yard.

Suspect Tokpah, charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault in violation of sections 14.20 and 10.1 of the penal code of the Republic of Liberia is in detention at the Sanniquellie Central Prison awaiting court’s trial.

The university, however, in its statement immediately suspended Daniel Tokpah believed to be in his late 50s from the institution for his attitude in line with the university’s professional ethics, code of conduct, and procedures.”

At the same time, citizens of Nimba County are demanding accountability and impartial justice for victim Jessica during the April 7 attack.

The citizens, speaking to our correspondent Tuesday called for full accountability for the multitude of crimes committed against Jessica and cooperation with impartial justice.
