-Jeremiah Sulunteh describes his alleged resignation from the CDC Campaign Team.


Jeremiah Sulunteh, the Chairman of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Campaign Team Bong County Chapter, has characterized as a “total nonsense and diabolical”, a recent information about his resignation from the party.

He referenced that recently, some individuals have insinuated that he has resigned from the CDC and declined his position given him to serve on the party’s National Campaign Team and claimed that he said some destructive things in a leaked audio

He also distanced himself from the other claim that he had resigned from the National Campaign Team of the Coalition for Democratic Change.

Addressing a news conference Thursday at the party’s headquarters in Congo Town, Mr. Sulunteh termed such allegations as diabolical, nonsense and only intended to smear his hard earned character.

He stressed that moving forward, he is no longer going to be diplomatic during the campaign and electioneering periods in the country.

According to him, he has two faces – political and diplomatic and currently, he has put on the political posture to be more robust, adding that as of now, he has declared himself “Outside”.

Mr. Sulunteh claimed that his character has been maligned by individuals especially from the opposition community who are eager for his service to their political camp but he has since refused.

He further assured his family members, friends and followers both in Liberia and in the diaspora that no manipulated tricks can destroy his reputation, stressing that he is more sophisticated that his political antagonists think.

The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) through its Chairman, Mulbah K. Morlu, announced its full campaign team for the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections, with the former vice presidential candidate of opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC), Jeremiah Sulunteh as National Campaign Chairman of the Bong County chapter.

The CDC campaign team was announced with a mandate to ensure the victory of the president, through a single round, contains the presence of Mr. Jeremiah Sulunteh, who arguably has a failed political career, judging from several attempts he has made at the vice presidential level, which didn’t yield fruits.

Morlu disclosed the party’s campaign team on Thursday; July 27, 2023, at a major press conference at the party’s headquarters in Congo Town, with Mr. Sulunteh who left Unity Party in 2016 after contesting as running mate to former Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Party of Liberia (NDPL), Ambassador Winston Tubman in the 2005 Presidential elections.

During the 2017 run-off Presidential election, Ambassador Sulunteh pledged his support for President George Weah. In October 2020, he officially joined the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in Gbarnga City, Bong County.

Sulunteh left Unity Party in 2016 after contesting as running mate to former Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Party of Liberia (NDPL), Ambassador Winston Tubman in the 2005 Presidential elections.

In a special comment hours after the pronouncement, overwhelmingly accepted the appointment, and guaranteed his commitment in ensuring the President’s reelection.

“I accept this, and I will encourage all of us to be civil”.  He emphasized the need for peace throughout the electoral process, and encouraged Liberians to respect the political views of each other.

He thanked the supporters and officials of the party for entrusting him to serve as the second most powerful person on the campaign team, especially during a crucial electoral process.

Earlier at the news conference, the CDC Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu also announced the Party’s Secretary General  JeffersonT. Koijee as Campaign Secretariat Head, Cllr. Kanio Bai Gballa, as Campaign spokesperson, Madam Fatu Swaray, as Head of Gender Affairs and the President of the Liberia Marketing Association, Madam Elizebeth Sambollah, as Head of Marketing Affairs.

Other prominent members of the CDC Campaign Team include Nora Finda Bundo, Chief of Protocol to President George Weah as the General Campaign Coordinator and Garrison Yealue, Governance Commission Chairperson, as Deputy Campaign Chair for Administration.
