SACRAMENTO, Calif. – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has accepted an invitation to serve as both the keynote speaker and a distinguished honoree at the 34th Annual Africa Peace Awards Ceremony, organizers announced today.

The invitation was extended by Sacramento State University President Luke Wood. The internationally renowned event celebrates individuals and institutions demonstrating outstanding service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and global harmony.

This year’s ceremony will convene global leaders, peace advocates, diplomats, academics, civil society representatives, business leaders, and members of the international community to honor enduring contributions to peacebuilding and human dignity. President Boakai’s participation underscores Liberia’s continued role in advancing reconciliation, democratic governance, and sustainable peace on both national and international stages.

The annual event is led by Dr. Ernest Uwazie, whose longtime dedication to peace education and conflict resolution has shaped the gathering into a respected global platform for dialogue and recognition. The 34th edition continues this tradition by honoring individuals and one institution whose work exemplifies courage, integrity, and outstanding service to communities in Sacramento and across Africa.

President Boakai’s presence holds special significance given Liberia’s history and its ongoing journey toward accountability, unity, and lasting peace. His leadership has resonated deeply with communities in Liberia, the Liberian diaspora, and peace advocates worldwide—including in California, where the event has drawn strong interest and support.
