The Publishers Association of Liberia (PAL) has voiced its agreement with the Supreme Court of Liberia’s call for a return to the status quo ante regarding the ongoing standoff between the Majority and Minority blocs in the House of Representatives.
In a statement released today, PAL expressed deep concern over the escalating situation within the National Legislature, which serves as the first branch of government. The Association highlighted that the prolonged impasse between the two blocs has significantly hampered legislative functions and governance in the country.
“The Supreme Court is the final arbiter of justice in our land,” the statement read. “We urge all parties involved to respect the Court’s decision and uphold the rule of law.”
PAL also emphasized the critical role of media institutions in this delicate period, urging its members and all media outlets to exercise caution. “We call on our members to avoid inflaming the already fragile situation,” the statement continued. “Such actions could undermine the security of the state and jeopardize our fragile democracy.”
The Publishers Association of Liberia’s call for restraint and respect for judicial authority underscores the importance of stability and cooperation in the nation’s governance. As the situation develops, the Association remains committed to promoting responsible discourse and supporting the democratic processes that uphold the rule of law.
