-Madam Leelai M. Kpukuyou becomes Global Ambassador for Gender Equality
Ottawa, Canada: On July 12, 2024, the Executive Director of African Youth and Women Empowerment Initiative (AYOWEI), Madam Leelai M. Kpukuyou, was commissioned and knighted by Her Royal Majesty, Queen Vickylextar of the Omanye Kingdom as the Global Ambassador for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.
The essence of Omanye Royal Kingdom lies in uniting people from diverse backgrounds, transcending apparent differences, and recognizing the shared potential for the collective benefit of everyone. The Kingdom welcomes individuals from all walks of life who embrace this straightforward vision of becoming each other’s caretaker.
The esteemed Omanye Royal Kingdom is under the capable leadership of HRM, Queen Vickylextar. Her royal lineage stems from the Dowuona Royal family of Osu and the Okang Nmashie Royal family of Jarasee, La, in the Republic of Ghana.
At the commissioning ceremony of Madam Kpukuyou, which coincided with the 50th birth anniversary/ golden jubilee of HRM Queen Vickylextar, were very high profile dignitaries and Royals from around the World.
In attendance were:
Chief Dr. Julius Garvey (son of the late prominent civil rights activist Marcus Garvey) and Mrs. Constance Garvey (from the USA), His Highness Papa Paul Jones Eganda 1st and Her Highness Queen Mother Grace Eganda (from Uganda ), Her Highness Queen Mother Adeke Hajila (Dr. ChenziRa Davis Kahina) from Jamaica, Her Highness Queen Achom (Dr. Hilary Brown), Nana Otu and Mrs Regina Lartey (Ghana), Her Highness Queen Ikatekit (from the US), Chief Carlton Darby (Canadian Politician), Dr. Dominique Oduro-Antwi, President, India/Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Madam Orinthia and Joshua Alridge, representing the African Royal Kingdoms and the African Views organization, Dr. Wale Idris Ajibade(USA/Nigeria) and scores of dignitaries from Africa, Europe the USA.
In her capacity as Global Ambassador for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, Madam LeelaiKpukuyou-Browne will be working closely with the office of HRM Queen Vickylextar by:
• Representing Omanye Royal Kingdom in Liberia and other global organizations.
• Providing strategic advice and support on opportunities for Omanye Royal Kingdom to strengthen local capacities for the advancement of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
• Leading on the compilation, monitoring and analysis of trends, opportunities and challenges around gender equality and women’s empowerment.
• Developing, reviewing and/or providing input on proposals and relevant initiatives in alignment with Omanye Royal Kingdom’s vision.
• Support in the preparation of reports and success stories post implementation of Omanye Royal Kingdom gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives.
• Providing training where needed.
Madam Kpukuyou brings to this high honor a wealth of experience in youth and women empowerment initiatives. For the most part of 2023, she was based in Accra, Ghana, where she empowered more than two thousand young Ghanaians through entrepreneurship training workshops, mentorship and motivational speaking forums.
Madam Kpukuyou possesses excellent networking skills and has the ability to confidently connect and engage in diverse cultures. She is indeed an asset to Liberia.
On the sideline of activities in Canada, Madam Kpukuyou used the opportunity to engage with Dr. Julius Garvey who expressed interest in visiting Liberia and investing in the Agriculture sector as well as supporting the current administration. She also engaged with the Liberian community leadership in Ottawa, Canada. The meeting was aimed to discuss issues faced within the Liberian community, foster partnership for Liberian women and youth back home as well as promote national development through the Boakai-Koung administration. Madam Kpukuyou is the first Liberian to be bestowed such high global honor and recognition by the Omanye Kingdom.
In a brief conversation with Madam Kpukuyou, she humbly expressed appreciation to the Liberian Government for sustaining the peace in Liberia; which creates the enabling environment for serious minded young people to rise to their full potential.
It is no doubt that with her entrepreneurial background; coupled with her vast international exposure and connections with prominent global business officials, Madam Kpukuyou could be a good candidate to navigate the global corridors and “sell” Liberia to the international business community.
