-Woman Files Criminal Complaint Against Five in Brutal Assault

PAYNESVILLE CITY, Montserrado County – The Paynesville City magisterial court has issued a writ of arrest against five individuals accused of aggravated assault, theft of property, and criminal conspiracy following a brutal attack on a woman in Sophie Community, Congo Town.
The complaint, sworn on oath by private prosecutrix Fatumata Kolleh of Congo Town Community, alleges that on May 26, 2026, she was lured by the defendants to a compound in Sophie Community, Congo Town, under the pretense of meeting the mother of one of the accused.
According to the charge sheet filed before Stipendiary Magistrate William G. Saygah, the incident quickly turned violent. Ms. Kolleh stated that after she was offered a seat to wait, co-defendant Aaronlyn T. McCoy allegedly snatched her handbag containing US$170 in cash, an iPhone 12 valued at US$250, and a button phone worth US$12.
The prosecution further claims that defendant Sonie Jallah threw pepper water into the victim’s face, after which the group stripped her naked and beat her “with rotten unmercifully,” leaving multiple wounds across her body.
Ms. Kolleh was rushed to Portal Medical Laboratory Clinic, where she was admitted and treated. The total cost of her medical expenses is forthcoming, according to court documents.
The alleged acts are said to violate Sections 14.20, 15.51, and 10.4 of the New Penal Code of Liberia. The writ orders Captain Roosevelt Bryant of the Magisterial Police or his deputy to arrest the named defendants—Sonie Jallah, Aaronlyn T. McCoy, Korsue, Satta, and others yet to be identified—and bring them before the Paynesville City Magisterial Court to answer to the charges.
The writ was issued on May 29, 2026, and signed by Gabriel J. Smith, Clerk of Court. Witnesses include Fatumata Kolleh and others. The LNP has not yet announced whether any of the defendants have been taken into custody. The case has drawn attention to rising concerns, especially with viral photos displaying wounds on the victim’s body.
In an interview over the weekend, Fatumata Kolleh explained that her attackers accused her of running “chichipoly” — a Liberian colloquialism for romantic gossip or interference. She recounted that on the day of the attack, she was teaching at her church when Aaronlyn T. McCoy, the daughter of a pastor, told her that a woman named Susana Stevenson had called her to the compound.
Upon arrival, she met Satta and Korsue inside, the gate was locked, and pepper was sprayed in her face. She said the group beat her severely with rotten wood while Susana Stevenson watched, all over the allegation that she had meddled in a romantic relationship involving Stevenson’s partner in the U.S.
“I was at the Church where I teach. An individual, the pastor’s daughter Aaronly T. McCoy, said Susana Stevenson called me in her compound. So I followed them. I met Satta and Korsue in the compound. When I entered, they locked the gate and sprayed me with pepper. They took the rotten and started beating me while Susana Stevenson was present. They gave me severe beating.”
Kolleh further stated that when she refused to unlock her phone or provide her password, the attackers beat her more severely and took the device. Although she reported the matter to the police, she claimed that one of the women is using her influence to evade justice, specifically bragging about connections with Police Director Gregory Coleman.
According to Kolleh, the woman has been boasting in the community that nothing will come of the case because she knows powerful people. Kolleh added that all of her alleged attackers remain free in the community, still in possession of her phone and other belongings, and have been parading around without fear of arrest. She is now pleading for public support in her pursuit of justice.
