Opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) Presidential candidate Mr. Alexander B. Cummings, over the weekend, announced over eight hundreds names as the CPP’s full and official campaign team for the upcoming October 10, 2023, general elections.
Mr. Cummings announced his campaign team on Friday, 18 August, 2023 at the CPP headquarter in Sinkor. At the event, he described the pronouncement as his journey to the executive mansion and victory to the Presidency.
“Today, we are officially kicking off our journey to the executive mansion. We are again, kicking off our journey to the presidency. We are again, today kicking off the restoration of good governance, economic growth to all Liberian” he stated. With your supports here today, it has justified and confirm that the best leadership to disarm poverty and restore opportunity for Liberia is Cummings -Cllr. Brumskine ticket” Mr. Cummings stated.
Over thousand or supporters, partisan, as well as sympathizer and we’ll wisher of the Collaborating Political Parties gathered in their numbers at the CPP headquarter in Sinkor during the official and full completion of the “Team Cummings” campaign team.
The CPP supporters were neatly dressed in their party campaign T-shirt, mainly White, Green and Red containing photos of both the standard bearer and vice.
Mr. Cummings is seated fourth place on the ballot paper of the National Elections Commission. Based upon the position of Mr. Cummings on the ballot papers, supporters at the occasion frequently put their four fingers in the air with the normal slogan. “We are going 4th street”. With a shout “Four will hold, four will hold”.
During the unforgeable numerical glorious campaign pronouncement ceremony, supporters of CPP was heard singing jubilant songs including “Take my vote, CPP take my vote, we tired suffering”. ” La my one vote can make Cummings win. Thank God I get my voting card”.
“I was 16 years and I promised Cummings that if I reach 18 years I will vote for him oh”. in the same vain, others were saying” George Weah go. George Weah go. George go, you failed us oh, George Weah go”. Among others.
Officially announcing his campaign team, Mr. Cummings named former information Minister Amb. Lewis G. Brown, as chairperson of the campaign and Mr. George Wishner, former National Investment Commission Boss of Liberia, as head of Montserrado County Campaign team.
Mr. Cummings described over eight hundreds men campaign team as inclusive and victorious, adding that decentralization and uninformative are seen in the appointment of his campaign team which he believes all Liberian are seeing themselves in.
“This campaign team announce here today is a victory to our ascendancy to the Presidency. We are making the journey to the executive mansion. This team despite not hearing your name but I believe you see yourself in this team. It compromises of the religious, disable, youth, women, girls, boy, men, political and the disadvantage youth. We urge you to go back to your respective places of influence and campaign until the real change that you can trust take over this leadership. Liberia and Liberians deserve better,” he concluded.
In separate interviews with supporters after the official pronouncement by Mr. Cummings, supporters vowed to campaign to ensure that Mr. Cummings becomes President of Liberia.
“My names are Williamena Doe, I am living Johnsonville. We are here today as pre-victory for Mr. Cummings and Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine. We will ensure that they become President because they have the vision and agenda to make Liberia better. My names are James Massaquoi and I live along the Japanese Freeway. Mr. Cummings has announced his final and official campaign team with a mandate to we the supporters to campaign despite not hearing our name. I want to tell him, that before saying this we have being campaigning and we are just going to increase the volume, void of violence,” they concluded.
