-As he ends Phase One ‘Thanksgiving Tour’ in Nimba County

NIMBA COUNTY — The Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Jeremiah Kpan Koung has urged people of Nimba County to prioritize the nation’s interests above all.
Addressing citizens’ gathering at his ‘Thank You Tour’ in Ganta and Sanniquellie Cities including Yekepa concession community, VP Koung called on people of his home County, Nimba to continue their support for the ruling Unity Party-Led government, assured commitment to deliver its ‘ARREST’agenda and commitment towards duty with responsiveness.
During his weeklong vigorous’Thank You Tour’ in Nimba, VP Koung also expressed gratitude to people of Nimba the their warm support rallied towards the Unity Party-MDR alliance election to take on state power, urging them to prioritize the nation’s interests through development initiatives under the astute leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. “We are forever grateful for the support during the 2023 presidential election” he said.
On Wednesday, May 15, 2024 the Vice President of Liberia, Jeremiah Kpan Koung embarked on his first official nationwide ‘Thanksgiving Tour’ beginning with his home county, Nimba since their election as President and Vice President of the Republic of Liberia in the 2023 presidential election.
Vice President Koung prior to his ascendency, served the House of Representatives for 9 years and Senate for 3 years in Nimba County.
The phase one of his tour in Nimba has so far covered electoral districts 1,2&3 which aimed at thanking people of the county for the massive support that emerge them victoria.
The appreciation was marked by joint thanksgivings and praises in selected churches in Ganta, Sanniquellie and Yekepa respectively.
Nimba County Senator and political Godfather, Prince Y. Johnson along with the County’s superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono, second lady Stephanie Dahn-Koung, wife of VP Koung, and local government officials among others graced phase one of the ‘Thank You Tour’.
Observed during the week, Vice President Koung graced the formal dedication ceremony of the Sanniquellie Central Mosque in Sannquellie City, Nimba County on Saturday May 18, 2024.
The construction of the mosque was done through collective efforts of several prominent Nimbians, predominantly those of the Islamic faith both in Liberia and abroad.
Several government officials and prominent Nimbians including Cllr. Tiawon Gongoloe graced the dedication ceremony of the Central Mosque.
During the dedicatory ceremony Muslims listened to koranic recitations and speeches by Imans, local leaders, top contributors, Nimba policymakers, and Vice-president Koung, lauding the construction, which they termed as the first ever modern mosque in Liberia’s history.
Various guest speakers claimed the mosque site is a holy land, urging a generation of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in the community.
However, on Monday, VP Koung also witnessed another dedication ceremony of the Yar River bridge in Gbeiyee Taingbain in Nimba Electoral District #7 an initiative of newly elected Rep. Musa Bility.
In special remarks, VP Koung encouraged Lawmakers across the country to take what Representative Bility has done as a challenge in developing their districts, praising Rep. Bility for his stand in development.
Prior to his election as Representative, Bility has been actively engaged in impactful developmental projects including the construction of bridges connecting communities in his district in Nimba county.
The bridge was singlehandedly funded by Representative Musa Hassan Bility through his development foundation, Bility Development Foundation.
The cost of the bridge construction project is put at a little over US$1.1million.
The construction of the bridge commenced in March 2023 and was officially dedicated on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Several government officials and prominent Nimbaians including Senators Prince Yormie Johnson, and Nathaniel McGill, House Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa and former Managing Director of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA), Harrison S. Karnwea among others graced the colorful ceremony.
The citizens who are the beneficiaries of the bridge project described the initiative as a lifesaver and a great relief to the them who travel in both Nimba Electoral Districts #7&8 and Liberia at large.
The ceremony created a huge attraction in Gbei Tiangbain, where the facility is located.
