On July 23rd, Word Life International, a Christian organization, generously donated food and non-food items to over 30 elderly individuals, both men and women, from various communities in Paynesville. The event, themed “Reaching the Unreached,” took place at the Word Life International Church in Paynesville, Montserrado County.
Mr. Augustine Ndorbor, the acting head of Word Life International Helping Hand, expressed that the donation of food and non-food items to the elderly was a gesture of solidarity with Liberia as the country celebrated its 177th anniversary. The organization’s program focuses on supporting elderly individuals and single mothers by providing them with essential items such as 25kg bags of rice, lappers, gallons of oil, and Vita.
The acting spokesperson for Word Life International Christian Organization emphasized that the organization is a non-profit charity that is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of elderly individuals and single mothers through medical check-ups and donations of essential items. These donation events typically coincide with Christmas and Independence Day celebrations, with the organization making an additional effort to provide gifts to elderly individuals for Liberia’s Independence Day on July 26th.
Madam Rebecca Nyamndo, the focal person for Word Life International, highlighted that both men and women received three pieces of lapper as part of the donation. She emphasized the organization’s commitment to transparency and accountability in distributing the food and non-food items, ensuring that the recipients did not feel cheated or overlooked.
“We are here today to ensure that everything is done fairly, and we have community members present to witness the distribution process,” Madam Nyamndostated, expressing regret for any inconvenience that may have occurred during the event.
