MONROVIA: The All-Retired Citizens Association of Liberia (ARCAL) is seeking the intervention of first lady Mother Katumu Yarta Boakai for the Firestone Rubber Plantation Company to fully settle retire employees of the company who work for first and was retire honorably but without any benefit.

ARCAL National Chairman Rev. Kafa B. Teah in an interview with a team of journalists at its offices in the Township of Gardnerville on Monday, June 8 2026, said all of the 576,000 memberships of Retired Population   in the now depending on the first lady Mrs, Boakia as their only hope for them getting the retirement benefit from the Firestone Rubber Plantation Company.

According to him, for too long they waited out of loyalty and peace for the country and also for too long they went to bed without food simply because they are not politicians but peace-loving Senior Citizens of Liberia

He added that, notwithstanding they are humans with family members who are deeply depending on them for their daily bread and giving them attention can’t be over emphasized.

He said It is with this they are calling on the First Lady for Her timely intervention to get President Boakai to authorize the Management of Firestone Liberia to pay out all retirement benefits of Firestone Retirees under “Executive order #1”.

“ It is regrettable, uncivilized and poor kind of leadership by both past and present government of Liberia to always neglect Retired Persons thereby leaving them in the hands of the wilderness of death for which they believe with her intervention President Boakai, will serve “AS AN ERA OF NEW DAY OF REDEMPTION FOR RETIRED PERSONS IN LIBERIA”.

He said also want the first lady to  ensure that the Management of Firestone make full payment of retirement benefits to the Retirees as a result of the Supreme Court of Liberia ruling in favor of Firestone Retirees since 2022 and are yet to receive their just benefits.

He expressed deep frustration over what he described as long-standing neglect and mistreatment of retirees by both past and current Liberian governments.

Speaking further he noted that, lamented the lack of care and support for senior citizens, who have served the nation but now struggle to live with dignity.

“Despite the sacrifices we’ve made for this country, we have not received the decent living we deserve from those we once considered our national leaders,” he said.

He cited examples of poor and irregular salary payments, which he noted are especially difficult to endure, given Liberia’s ongoing economic challenges.
