The opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has taken a strong stance against the recent announcement by the Liberia National Police Inspector General Cor. Gregory Coleman to impose No-Go-Zone restrictions on motorcyclists in Monrovia. The new CDC Chairperson, Janga Kowo, has declared that the party will not stand by while President Boakai’s administration mistreat motorcyclists as foreigners in their own country.

Kowo emphasized that the CDC is committed to protecting the rights of motorcyclists and ensuring that they are not marginalized by government policies. He criticized the government’s decision to restrict the movement of motorcyclists, arguing that it will only exacerbate poverty in the city.

According to Kowo, motorcyclists play a vital role in the local economy, and any attempts to remove them from the streets will only harm their livelihoods. He asserted that the CDC will resist the No-Go-Zone restrictions imposed by the police and called on the government to address the root causes of the issue, such as the unrestricted importation of motorbikes into the country.

The CDC chairman also urged the government to reconsider its decision and work towards finding a more sustainable solution that does not negatively impact the livelihoods of motorcyclists in Monrovia.
