Residents and commercial motorcyclists in Darquee Town, Electoral District #13, have renewed their appeal to their Representative, Hon. Edward Papie Flomo, to urgently intervene in addressing the deplorable condition of the community’s main road.
According to several residents, the road has become increasingly difficult to use, especially during the rainy season. They claimed that the red dirt previously spread on portions of the road has worsened the situation, making the surface muddy, slippery, and dangerous for both pedestrians and motorists.
Speaking on Monday, July 6, 2026, the resident explained that movement in and out of the community has become a daily struggle, noting that people frequently slip and fall while attempting to navigate the road. The poor condition, they said, continues to disrupt transportation and other daily activities.
Commercial motorcyclists also expressed concern over the impact of the road on their livelihoods. They said the deteriorating road has made it difficult to transport passengers safely, while the recent increase in fuel prices has further driven up transportation fares, placing an additional financial burden on residents.
The residents are specifically calling on Representative Flomo to rehabilitate the road stretching from the Sand Beach area to Darquee Town, describing it as a critical route that requires immediate attention.
They assured the lawmaker that once work begins, members of the community will willingly support the project through community participation. “We are appealing to our Representative to come to our aid. Once the project starts and we see the commitment, the community will stand with him and help in every way possible,” one resident said.
The residents are urging Representative Flomo to ensure that rehabilitation of the road begins before the end of the year, emphasizing that improved road access would ease transportation challenges, reduce accidents, and improve the lives of people living in the community.
