The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), in collaboration with its partners, has launched a Photo Exhibition and Gallery of Peace and Reconciliation aimed at preserving Liberia’s history, promoting national healing, and strengthening calls for social justice, including the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court.
Speaking at the launch, FeJAL President Lisa Tenneh Diasay described the exhibition as a powerful reminder of Liberia’s difficult past and its resilience.
She explained the exhibition is intended to encourage Liberians to reflect on the nation’s past while promoting dialogue on accountability, reconciliation, and sustainable peace.
“This photo gallery is more than an exhibition of images; it is a living record of Liberia’s journey through conflict, resilience, and peace. By preserving these historical moments, we are encouraging Liberians, especially young people, to reflect on our past, embrace reconciliation, and continue advocating for justice as the foundation for sustainable peace,” Madam Diasay said.
The exhibition, officially launched today on July 30, 2026, was made possible through funding from the European Union in Liberia and the Embassy of Ireland. It features a four-phase collection of historical photographs documenting Liberia’s civil conflicts, peace negotiations, democratic transition, and reconciliation journey.
Currently on display at the Women in Peacebuilding Network (WIPNET) Center in Gorzohn Market, the initiative is expected to expand to schools and communities across the country, with a particular focus on educating young people about Liberia’s history and the importance of justice and reconciliation.
The exhibition forms part of ongoing efforts by FeJAL and its partners to preserve Liberia’s historical memory, foster national dialogue, and strengthen public support for lasting peace, accountability, and reconciliation.
