Monrovia, Liberia – The legal team representing former Vice President Madam Jewel Howard Taylor has formally requested a one-day continuance of her preliminary examination proceedings, citing health concerns.
In a letter addressed to Magistrate L. Ben Barco of the Monrovia City Court, the defense team explained that Madam Taylor is currently unwell and has expressed a strong desire to participate fully in all stages of the proceedings. However, she has requested permission from the Ministry of Justice to be examined by a physician familiar with her medical history.
The request, filed at 7:54 AM on September 1, asks that her scheduled hearing be moved from Tuesday, September 1, to Wednesday, September 2, at a time convenient for the court. The continuance would allow Madam Taylor to receive necessary medical attention before resuming her involvement in the case.
The defense letter was signed by Cllr. Laveli Supuwood, Cllr. Kabineh Ja’neh, and Cllr. Finley Y. Karngar. It was received and filed by Abel Kalay of the court.
As of press time, the court’s decision has not been made known. The preliminary examination involves proceedings related to the former Vice President, who served under President George Weah.
