The African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) has set Tuesday, August 29, 2023, for its 2023 Commencement Convocation, but till date, about 240 students have not paid their graduation fees, while only 164 students have so far been cleared to participate in the graduation.
The Board of Trustees of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) recently approved the calendar of events for the 2023 Commencement Convocation of the University.
According to the calendar, the scholastic honoring of students who earned academic excellence will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Clar Marie Weah Event Hall on 12th Street, Sinkor.at 5:00pm, while the Baccalaureate Service will be held on Sunday August 27, 2023 at the University’s Vincent Town, Po River Campus in Bomi County beginning at 11:00am.
As revealed by the the approved calendar, the Commencement Convocation will take place on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the University’s Vincent Town, Po River Campus in Bomi County beginning at 9:00am.
Amid the financial crisis on most of the students, the Board of Trustees has cleared 164 students who have met both academic and financial requirements to graduate on August 29, while 240 students have met only academic requirements; totalling the overall number of students that have met some or all requirements to graduate to 404, respectively.
During it emergency sitting on Monday, August 21, 2023, the Board of Trustees, in a strong resolution, mandated the Administration of the University to ensure that ‘only students who have met both academic and financial requirements’ will be allowed to graduate.
At the same time, the Administration of AMEZU has disclosed that it will begin issuing final clearances to students who have met both the academic and financial requirements on today (Tuesday ), August 22, 2023 at 11:30am.
AMEZU president Dr. Emmanuel F. Johnson, I, has instructed the Dean of Admission to ensure that clearance be issued only to students who have met both academic and financial requirements.
“The Board of Trustees has issued a resolution that not even I can violate. We have to collect fees owed to the University. Those who owe the University now have a window from now to Friday of this week to go to the bank and pay their arrears and fees or forfeit their participation in this year’s Commencement Convocation,” the president stated during a meeting with the scholastic honorees at his Benson Street office in Monrovia on Monday evening.
