President George Weah has suspended his campaign tour for two days, to mourn the death of three supporters of his supporters who met their early demise, following a fatal accident along the Nimba-Margibi highway.
As revealed by a CDC release, the President says he’s sudden about the death of the three females, and has also extended condolences to the bereaved family for their loss.
Late Tuesday, August 22, 2023, the public was alerted about a tragic motor accident that on the Margibi highway, involving supporters of the Girls for Weah, a social auxiliary of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
As a result of this situation, the President has called on supporters of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), to join him today, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the Party’s headquarters in Congo Town, to mourn their loss.
The President has also encouraged supporters of the party to to join him in prayng for and with the families, as they deal with this disheartening situation.
Furthermore, he wants his supporters to join him in praying for the speedy recovery of the team members that sustained severe injuries, as a result of the incident.
Hours after the horrific incident, the opposition Unity Party also joined the public in sympathizing with the ruling party for their loss.
In a Facebook post early Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Mohammed Ali, the Campaign Spokesman of the Unity Party (UP) wrote, “With great sadness our team has learned of a tragic accident sustained by members of the Girls of Weah on their way to participate in political activities of their political party.”
“On behalf of the entire Unity Party Campaign Team, the Rescue Mission and the Standard Bearer, I extend our deepest condolences to the families of the young women and all other persons who met their untimely demise.”
He continued, “Our thoughts are also with the CDC for the tragic lost of their partisans. We pray that God grants their families solace and pray for speedy recovery of the survivors currently fighting for their lives.”
Unarguably, Girls for Weah added a different social taste to the campaign process of the CDC, and it was obviously adopted by several other political parties.
These individuals, who dedicated their lives to advancing the ideals and values of the political movement, leave behind a void that can be difficult to fill.
