-Cites LTA Boss

The House of Representatives- HOR, has cited the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunication Authority- LTA, Madam Edwina Crump Zackpah, to explain how effectively 10,000 young people will be trained in various digital skills.

Plenary reached the decision Thursday, February 1, 2024 following a communication from Maryland County District 1 Representative, P. Mike Jury.

Representative Jury recounted President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr., State of Nation Address, plans to expand the economy.

He said President Boakai promised to leverage Information Communication Technology- ICT in creating jobs, especially for Liberian youth.

“To achieve this, my Administration will train up to 10,000 young people in various digital skills in the first half of 2024”, the lawmaker quoted the President

According to the lawmaker, in this regard to achieve the laudable policy established by the President, time is of essence.

“It is important that LTA gives the people’s deputies a clear strategy and how inclusive it will be to cover the nation”, he added.

Meanwhile, the LTA Boss, Madam Edwina Crump Zackpah, is expected to appear before plenary next week Thursday, February 8, 2024.

At the same time, the House has constituted a Special Committee to oversee the peaceful homegoing ceremonies for the late Honorable Erol Madison Gwion.

Those appointed on the committee include; Hon. Jacob Cheategba Debee, II, Hon. Yekeh Y. Kolubah, Hon. Moima Briggs-Mensah, Hon. Bernard Blue Benson Jr, Hon. Alex Noah, and Hon. Emmanuel Yarh.

The Special Committee, comprising bipartisan members, has been established to coordinate and oversee the arrangements for Hon. Gwion’s homegoing ceremony. The committee is tasked with ensuring that every aspect of the proceedings reflects the honor and respect befitting a public servant of Madison Gwion’s caliber.

The schedule for the ceremonies is as follows:

1. Monday, February 5, 2024: State Funeral in Monrovia

• 10 am: The mortal remains of the late Hon. Erol Madison Gwion will be removed from the St. Moses Funeral Parlor in Gardnerville and transported to the grounds of the Capitol Building for a state funeral.

• After the ceremony at the Legislature, the body will proceed on the Robert Field Highway to his Duazon residence for a night of wake keeping.

2. Tuesday, February 6, 2024: Departure to Grand Gedeh County

• The body will depart Monrovia for Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County.

3. Friday, February 9, 2024: All Night Wake Keeping in Zwedru City

4. Saturday, February 10, 2024: Funeral Service and Interment

• Funeral service over the remains of the late Hon. Erol Madison Gwion will take place in the Elim Chapel A G Church, Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County.

• Interment will follow at the VIP cemetery in Suah Quarter.

The House of Representatives urges all members of the 55th Honorable House, government officials, dignitaries, and the general public to participate fully in these ceremonies to pay their respects to the late Honorable Erol Madison Gwion.
