-Amid credential controversy

The Liberian Senate, through its confirmation committee, will tomorrow, February 1, 2024, conduct the confirmation hearing of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s Foreign Affairs Minister designate, Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti.

Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti was appointed among the first four females that have been appointed by the President, out of his first eleven appointments so far. Madam Nyanti was appointed along with Dr. Jarso Jallah Saygbe, as Minister of Education, Dr. Louise Kpoto, as Minister of Health, and Ms. Kula Fofana, as Press Secretary.

Before her appointment, she came under attack by 

Martin Kollie, a strong supporter of Mr. Boakai’s party, the Unity Party. Kollie has alleged that Nyanti’s academic credentials are fake and bogus, casting doubt on her qualifications for the role.

Kollie: “This is how we want to save the Ministry of Foreign Affairs like we saved LBDI. The credentials of Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti are bogus and fake. She doesn’t even have a first degree. We are in this gov’t to protect public interests and help Pres. JNB.”

A day ago, he wrote: “It’s OVER. We finally got it. How can you obtain a Master’s degree in 2007 and a Bachelor’s degree in 2021? FRAUD. Fake Certificates. We are coming OUT. Mme. Sara Beysolow Nyanti didn’t have to LIE. Wow.”

Amid comments about the authenticity of her academic credentials, Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti earlier clarified that her credentials are genuine, and she will be prepared to defend her record and credentials before the Senate if she is appointed by the President.

In response to the different allegations, Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti took to Facebook mid-Tuesday, January 23, 2024, to assert her readiness to defend her record and credentials before the Senate if she is appointed by the President. Her followers believe her statement indicates a firm commitment to addressing the accusations and proving the legitimacy of her qualifications.

“I have read the posts and heard the lies and disinformation being spued. When I am given the chance to serve the people of Liberia as I have served other nations, I will be prepared to defend my record and my legitimate and hard-earned credentials before the Senate.”

Visible records have proven Madam Beysolow Nyanti’s ability to execute every task that is attached to the post. 

Madam Sara Frances Beysolow Nyanti is an international development expert and Liberian pastor. She has more than 20 years of professional experience.

Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti was one of the twenty presidential candidates who participated in Liberia’s October 10, 2023, general elections. She is a Liberian with roots from Cape Mount, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties. Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti’s incredible journey with the United Nations began in the early 2000s in Liberia and took her on a whirlwind journey managing teams to save lives and contribute to nation-building in many countries around the world such as Nepal, Namibia, Nigeria, Yemen, the Gambia, and South Sudan amongst others. 

Before going to the United Nations, she also worked for the Government of the Republic of Liberia as a Special Assistant to the Minister of Health, subsequently she was appointed as director of the National Aids Control Program where she’s credited for writing Liberia’s first successful project for the Global funds for AIDs, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (GFATM).

While at the United Nations, Madam Beysolow exercised her strong leadership abilities my the integrity required to manage an annual budget of over 1 billion in conflict contexts with excellent audits and no case of misuse of funds or property of the United Nations. And the system that she designed to pay cash to the poor people of Yemen is now being used in Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Sudan.
