The House of Representatives has directed its Chief Clerk to compel all factions in the bitter West Point Market ownership and leadership dispute to appear before the Legislature on Monday, armed with documentary evidence to substantiate their claims.

The move follows a formal communication from Montserrado County District #7 Representative Emmanuel Dahn, who warned of an escalating crisis in his constituency and urged the House to intervene before tensions spiral further.

Dahn’s petition specifically named Local Government Minister Francis Sakila Nyumalin Sr., Montserrado County Superintendent Whroway Bryant, leaders of the Liberia Marketing Association, West Point Market officials, and the Township Commissioner as key parties whose presence is critical.

Addressing the Plenary, Dahn argued that legislative engagement offers the best pathway to untangle a protracted dispute rooted in deep-seated misunderstandings among stakeholders.

After brief deliberations, the Plenary mandated the Chief Clerk to ensure all cited parties appear before House leadership on Monday with original documents and supporting evidence, as lawmakers move to establish facts and broker a peaceful resolution.

The intervention is designed to foster transparent dialogue, curb rising tensions, and avert any violent confrontation over the market’s contentious management and ownership structure.
