SANNIQUELLIE CITY, Nimba County — Bernice Kabah, 28-year-old, Nimba County’s Police Commander and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mendin Larmie has denied the claim, alleging that he knows about his wife’s early death. Speaking at a memorial funeral ceremony at Jubilee Praise and Worship Center in Ganta, Nimba County on Saturday (April 18, 2026), ACP Larmie described the claim as baseless, painful, and hurtful.
“I want to make it clear that I am innocent,” ACP Larmie said, his voice filled with emotion. “My wife was a loyal and devoted partner, and I loved her dearly. I have no reason to harm her, and the suggestion that I would do so for promotional gain at the job is ridiculous and evil.” ACP Larmie emphasized that his position as Assistant Commissioner of Police is already one of the highest ranks in the Liberia National Police, and he is just a step away from the top two ranks in the LNP force.
He attributed his current promotion as ACP to hard work and his Christian upbringing, stating he has never been involved with any groups or societies for personal gain. The Police Commander recounted how his wife’s illness was a sudden and devastating experience, describing her symptoms as starting with foot pain and escalating rapidly until death. “If financial constraints had been an issue, I would have done everything possible to seek medical treatment abroad,” he said. “But her passing was not about money; it was God’s will.”
ACP Larmie appealed to the public to respect his family’s privacy during this difficult time and to refrain from spreading negativity about his wife’s death. “She was humble, loyal, and a true wife and mother,” he said, fighting back tears. “I will not love again; my children are my priority now,” he concluded. At the Jubilee Praise and Worship Center on Saturday, April 18, 2026, hundreds of mourners, including Nimba County Administration led by Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono, security personnel, and members of the Christian community, converged in Ganta, Nimba County to bid farewell to Bernice Kabah, the late wife of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mendin Larmie.
The solemn ceremony, held at Jubilee Praise and Worship Center Church, was a testament to the impact Bernice had on those around her. Local Government Officials, friends, family, and community members gathered to pay their respects, sharing stories of her kindness, generosity, and dedication to her family and community. Bernice Kabah was born on September 12, 1998, and passed away on April 6, 2026, after a brief illness. Her untimely death has left a void in the lives of her loved ones, including her husband, ACP Larmie, and their children.
The Nimba County Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono paid respect, praising Bernice’s contributions through ACP Mendin to the community. Security personnel from various agencies were also present, paying tribute to the wife of their esteemed colleague. As the crowd gathered at the church, mourners were visibly moved by the outpouring of love and support for the Larmie and Kabah’s families. The service was a celebration of Bernice’s life, with hymns, prayers, and tributes from friends and family.
Bernice’s mortal remains were laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Jubilee Praise and Worship Center Church in Ganta, following a public display of respect at the church. The community continues to mourn her loss, while celebrating her life and legacy.
