-As Ground Breaks for New Housing, Drainage Project in Marshall

MARSHALL, Margibi County – Residents of the Riverview Community in Marshall have lavished praise on the Smart Brother Construction Group for addressing long-standing needs related to improved housing infrastructure, drainage systems, commercial spaces, and short-term job availability.
The real estate group broke ground on Saturday, April 18, 2026, for the construction of twelve housing units in the area. The project focuses on transforming Liberia’s housing landscape by developing affordable, high-quality modern homes. Community members gathered alongside company officials to mark the ceremonial start of construction.
The event drew scores of local residents who have long awaited such development in their neighborhood. Speaking during the program, Mr. Daniel Gborkorquellie, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Smart Brothers Construction Group Inc., described the project as a “community-changing development.”
He disclosed that the project is expected to bring new infrastructure to the community.
Gborkorquellie also noted that the development would create short-term job opportunities for local residents.
He further stated that improved economic activities in the area would follow once construction gains momentum. The CEO termed the ceremony as “another milestone” in the company’s push to modernize communities across Liberia.
“Today we are not just breaking ground — we are transforming Riverview,” Gborkorquellie told those gathered for the occasion. He emphasized that the project would create jobs during the construction phase. Gborkorquellie also promised that the development would deliver lasting value for families and businesses in the community. “That is how we build Liberia, one community at a time,” he declared.
The CEO revealed that this marks the company’s second project being implemented in the same community. He noted that the first project consisted of fourteen housing units. “Today, we are breaking ground for another twelve, which means that one community at a time, we will develop and transform Liberian housing infrastructure,” Gborkorquellie concluded.
For their part, residents of the Riverview Community expressed appreciation and gratitude to the company and its team for the initiative. They noted that the development could address long-standing needs for improved housing, drainage, and commercial space.
One resident, speaking on behalf of the community, thanked the company for coming to their area.
“We want to thank you for coming to this community to help us improve our housing infrastructure and drainage system,” the resident said. The community member noted that they have seen the company’s work from its previous project. “We have seen the economic impact it has brought to our environment, in relation to jobs and opportunities for our youth,” the resident added.
Another community member pointed out that purchasing a home has now become less stressful.
“Today, we can buy a house without going through the stress of being engaged with an engineer,” the resident said. “We say thank you for that,” the resident added.
Residents also acknowledged that their families in the diaspora are now using the company to create homes in the community.
“Our families in the diaspora are now using you to create their homes here, and it’s welcoming,” they concluded. The ground-breaking ceremony marked a significant step in efforts to modernize infrastructure in the Riverview Community. Local leaders have long called for improved drainage systems to address seasonal flooding in the area.
The new project is expected to include modern drainage systems alongside the twelve housing units.
Commercial spaces are also part of the development plan, which residents say will boost local trade.
Short-term employment opportunities during construction are expected to benefit dozens of youth in Marshall and surrounding areas.
Smart Brothers Construction Group Inc. continues to expand its footprint in Liberia’s real estate sector.
The company has positioned itself as a key player in developing affordable housing across the country.
Saturday’s event in Margibi County represents the latest in a series of community-focused projects by the firm. Residents expressed hope that the development would attract additional investment to the area.
Community leaders called on other real estate groups to emulate Smart Brothers’ approach to community transformation. The twelve new housing units are expected to be completed within the coming months, according to company officials. Once finished, the homes will provide modern living spaces for families in the Riverview Community.
The project also aims to set a new standard for housing development in Margibi County.
