The National Housing Authority (NHA) will host Liberia’s first-ever National Off-Takers (Homeowners) Conference on May 20, 2026, aiming to expand affordable homeownership opportunities for ordinary Liberians. Managing Director Florence Kateka Geegbae announced the plan on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing. The conference will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Monrovia City Hall.

The event brings together prospective homeowners, developers, financial institutions, investors, and government stakeholders. Together, they will discuss practical pathways to affordable homeownership in Liberia. “This conference centers on one simple but powerful idea: making home ownership possible for ordinary Liberians,” Madam Geegbae said.

She explained that “off-takers”—future home buyers—play a vital role in attracting investors to Liberia’s housing sector. The initiative will educate Liberians on how to qualify for homes through mortgage financing, rent-to-own arrangements, and direct cash purchases.

Madam Geegbae emphasized that the opportunity is open to all Liberians, including civil servants, market women, commercial drivers, motorcyclists, and other income earners.

Several international developers and investors are expected to arrive in Liberia between May 13 and May 19 for discussions on housing development and financing opportunities, the NHA boss disclosed.

Representatives from the Central Bank of Liberia and the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment will also participate, addressing mortgage financing and affordable housing support mechanisms.

A young Nigerian entrepreneur involved in housing construction will serve as the keynote speaker. He will also engage Liberian youth during a side meeting on May 19 at the NHA’s conference room. The conference carries the theme: “From Renting to Owning: Your Journey Starts Here.” Madam Geegbae noted that the initiative forms part of the government’s broader effort to reduce homelessness and provide decent, affordable housing across Liberia. “Liberians, your chance to own a home is here,” she declared. “If you earn, you can own.”
