Preliminary results from just ended rerun elections in Old Sodokan Maryland County District #2, put  former Students leader at the State run University of Liberia  Athony F. Williams in the lead ahead of his main challenger former House Speaker Bhofal Chambers

According to the Preliminary results in our pensioned at polling place #1 Anthony F. Williams obtained three hundred and fifty (350) while incumbent Bhofal Chambers got seventy-five (75), vote at police #2, representative Bhofal Chambers got forty-seven (47) vote while Anthony F. Williams received three hundred and twenty-one (321) vote, thus making Anthony Williams presumptive winner of the January 25th  rerun election winner in Maryland County District #2  

Three months ago, Liberia’s elections commission declared Anthony Williams winner over then speaker of the House of Representatives, Bhofal Chambers, in Pleebo Sodoken District #2.  Chambers took an appealed to the Supreme Court citing several discrepancies, including violence by the traditional people who he says brought the “country devil” to town district.

The National Election Commission Wednesday January 17, declared Champaign opened in the rerun elections in old Sodokan, Maryland County District #2 and the election was held January 25th, 2024

Before the conduct of the rerun election elections at the two polling places Anthony told journals Williams that while he is not too prepared financially, he and his supporters were psychologically ready to take on former House Speaker despite the numerous challenges associated with rerun couples with finances

  

“I will defeat former House Speaker Bhofal Chambers back to back and it will go down in history” former Students leader at the State run University of Liberia  Anthony F. Williams is quoted as saying.

  

The Supreme Court of Liberia has ordered the National Elections Commission to conduct a rerun of the October 10, 2023, representative election in two polling places only, Precinct Code #27020 in Old Sodokan, District Number Two, Maryland County.

The Supreme Court noted that the decision of the National Elections Commission to have dismissed Chambers’s complains, without considering issues raised about violence by traditional people during the polling process was unfair. 

Even though, the Supreme Court noted that the election was not conducted for District Number Two Maryland County, alone, but for the Republic of Liberia and voters were to vote for all the candidates and various positions, the court said there were nine candidates and each political party would have had poll watchers, Chambers failed to produce any of these poll watchers to prove his claims of ballot stuffing. 

Anthony F. Williams lauded the people of Pleebo Sodokan District #2 for reaffirming their votes by voting against Former House Speaker Bhofal Chambers thus bring to an end of his eighteen (18) years as Representative of Maryland County District #2
