BREWERVILLE – The Liberia National Police has formally charged a 30-year-old woman, Annie Kollie, in connection with the death of her boyfriend, Mitchel Nowah, following a domestic dispute in the New Israel Community, Brewerville. According to police reports, Kollie, a Guinean national residing in the area, was taken into custody on April 13, 2026—one day after the incident.
Authorities allege that she unlawfully caused Nowah’s death during a confrontation inside their shared home.
Investigators say the incident occurred late on Sunday, April 12, when Nowah returned home and attempted to enter a bedroom where Kollie had reportedly been sleeping separately for several weeks. Police state that she denied him entry, and the situation escalated when Nowah allegedly forced his way into the room and pulled her by the hair, leading to a physical struggle.
During the altercation, Kollie is accused of grabbing a stone and striking Nowah multiple times, including blows to the neck and the back of the head, leaving him unconscious. Nowah was subsequently rushed to Redemption Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival. Police findings indicate that the couple had been experiencing ongoing domestic problems prior to the incident, including allegations of frequent alcohol use and violence by the deceased.
These circumstances reportedly led Kollie to move into a separate bedroom within the home. The couple was living together with four children at the time of the incident. Following an assessment of witness accounts and available evidence, police determined that Kollie’s actions led to Nowah’s death. She has been charged under the manslaughter provisions of the Revised Penal Code of Liberia. The case is expected to proceed through the courts.
